Privacy Policy for Power BI Visuals provided by BI Samurai

This Privacy Policy applies to all Power BI custom visuals published by BI Samurai.

Who is responsible

We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What the visuals collect

Nothing. We do not log any actions, events, report content or data that you use inside the visuals. Nothing from within a visual is transmitted to BI Samurai.

What we collect, and when

When you obtain a visual through Microsoft AppSource / Microsoft Marketplace, Microsoft shares your account information with us as the provider of the product. This may include your name, email address, company name and country.

When you request or purchase a license, contact support, or register for a demo, we collect the information you provide to us directly, including any information required to process a purchase.

Why we use it

We use this information to:

• provide, deliver and support licenses, and to process purchases — legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR)
• respond to your enquiries, support and demo requests — legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) / 6(1)(f) GDPR
• contact you by email about the product you obtained and related BI Samurai products, including setup guidance, usage tips, license information, updates and new releases — legal basis: your consent, given when acquiring the product via Microsoft Marketplace (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR)
• meet our legal record-keeping obligations — legal basis: Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR

We only send emails relating to our own products. We do not send unrelated advertising, and we do not sell or share your data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

You can opt out at any time. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing info@bisamurai.com. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out beforehand, or messages required in connection with a license you hold.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with service providers acting on our instructions, in the following categories: email delivery and marketing platforms, website and application hosting, payment processing, and customer support tools.

As we are established in Switzerland, personal data of users in the European Economic Area is transferred to Switzerland, which the European Commission recognises as providing an adequate level of data protection. Where a service provider is located in a country without such recognition, transfers are safeguarded by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (and their Swiss addendum) or an equivalent mechanism.

We do not otherwise disclose your personal data, except where required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as it is needed for the purposes described above — for contact data, until you object or unsubscribe; for license and accounting records, for the statutory retention periods.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your personal data, to object to processing (including direct marketing) at any time, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email info@bisamurai.com.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or with the competent data protection supervisory authority in your country of residence.

Security

BI Samurai uses industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with the date it was last updated.
