Sorting

In this article we will explain how to apply sorting to the VizCreator custom visuals.
The default sorting reflects alphabetical order, however, by using the sorting placeholder it is possible to overwrite this and link sorting to another value. Adequate sorting will help end-users to prioritize values and categories in order to identify the best and worst performers in the dataset.

Fixed sorting
• Create a new measure or choose an existing one that will be used as a sorting criteria
• Add this measure to the sorting placeholder of the visual
• Go to visual options and select descending/ascending according to your preference

Dynamic sorting
• Create SWITCH DAX measure to apply sorting order for multiple values in parallel
• Add this measure to the sorting placeholder of the visual
• Create a slicer with the new sort order
• Sorting criteria will change dynamically based on the value selected in the slicer which gives you more flexibility to organize the data and meet the needs of a larger group of users
• Go to visual options and select descending/ascending according to your preference

The sample report and video will guide you through the setup in more detail with clear examples.
